How To Make a Good Test

The purpose of the writing test is to check the candidate’s fluency in English (spelling, grammar, etc.) and their research and formatting skills. A good test should establish a balance between thoroughness and willingness. This means that it should be detailed enough to let you decide whether a candidate is skilled enough but not too demanding at the same time. Most candidates won’t be willing to write a 2,500-word unpaid test article that will take them eight hours to finish.

This is why we devised a test that strikes a perfect balance between thoroughness and willingness. Interviewing Candidates

When a candidate completes the test, their status changes to Test Complete, notifying your Editors and Content Managers that they can review it. Based on the test results, they can change the candidate’s status to:

1. Reject the candidate—if the candidate fails the test
2. Invite for Interview—if the candidate passes the test

In both cases, the candidate will receive an automated email notifying them of the outcome.
