Benefits Analyst Job Description Template

We are looking for an experienced Benefits Analyst to join our team. Your primary responsibilities will include analyzing the existing benefits programs and compensation structure and suggesting ways to improve them.

The candidate is expected to implement and administer all benefits and retirement programs, including life insurance, short-term and long-term disability, medical, dental, and 401 (k) plans.

A successful Benefits Analyst will be required to communicate and hold orientation meetings with management teams and employees to update them regarding any changes in benefits policies and compensation structure and answer queries about existing policies, and recommend new benefits packages. They will also have to negotiate with vendors and acquire benefits packages for employees at a low cost to the company.

The preferred candidate should have an excellent understanding of the [X] industry to establish benefits packages that will attract and retain top talent. Excellent knowledge of labor laws, compensation policies, leave policies, and other compliance regulations related to the [X] industry at the state and federal level is required.

Ultimately, the goal of this role is to ensure optimized benefits packages and compensation structure that helps attract qualified candidates and keep the current employees in our company satisfied.

Responsibilities

• Update benefits policies and reports changes to upper management teams and supervisors
• Research current trends in benefits policies to select appropriate packages which will help attract top talent
• Identify and eliminate gaps in benefits plans by requesting feedback from employees about various benefits packages
• Hold orientation meetings for new hires and help them understand existing benefits packages, policies, and compensation structure
• Ensure implementation of benefits policies and determine the eligibility of employees for various benefits packages
• Renew relevant benefits programs in a timely manner
• Help employees enroll in benefits programs such as life, disability, medical, or dental insurance
• Respond to queries from employees and management teams related to benefits policies, enrollments, status changes, eligibility for benefits packages, etc.
• Ensure the accuracy of all benefits enrollment data and provide accurate eligibility information to vendors
• Process benefits claims and life status changes of employees
• Process leave requests, reimbursement applications, and disability paperwork
• Manage wellness programs for employees, which help reduce health insurance costs
• Manage and maintain records of compensation, such as deductions, reimbursements, etc.

Requirements

• Prior experience working as a Benefits Analyst or a similar role in the [X] industry
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Finance, or a closely-related field
• Professional Human Resource Certification and Global Professional in Human Resource Certification are preferred but not mandatory
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs such as Excel, PowerPoint, and Word 
• Working knowledge of human resource information software, such as Sapling, HRMLabs, Bridge, Eddy, etc., for maintaining and updating employee data
• Excellent research skills necessary for being up-to-date with current labor laws and compensation regulations for the [X] industry
• Excellent communication skills for presenting benefits packages and changes in benefits policies to the employees
• Strong analytical and evaluation skills for researching benefits programs and selecting those that are both appealing and cost-effective
