HR Supervisor Job Description Template

We are looking for an experienced HR Supervisor to join our growing team and supervise the day-to-day operations of the HR team to ensure a high level of productivity. You will be involved in the recruitment process, benefits administration, training, conflict resolution, and other operational tasks as needed. 

You will also assist with ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation, evaluate our current HR policies and procedures, and suggest improvements to the HR Manager.

Our ideal candidate is well-versed in best HR practices and state and federal regulations relevant to our industry. You need to have excellent interpersonal skills for building rapport with other staff members company-wide and have proven experience in conflict resolution. We also expect that you have experience working in [XY] HRIS, applicant tracking systems, and different LMS solutions.

Responsibilities

• Develop new HR policies and procedures that meet internal requirements and align with our company’s mission and values
• Serve as an advisor to other staff members regarding internal HR policies and relevant external regulations (OSHA, ADA, FLSA, etc.)
• Work with higher management to assess our company’s hiring needs 
• Manage the recruitment team in all phases of the hiring process and assist with posting job ads, conducting interviews, shortlisting candidates, and onboarding new employees as needed
• Oversee compensation evaluations, benefit audits, and diversity planning
• Organize career development and general HR-related workshops and training programs for all new and current employees and evaluate their effectiveness
• Serve as a mediator in employee conflict and decide on corrective actions when required
• Assist the line managers in the performance appraisal process, such as scheduling meetings and filling the performance appraisal forms
• Support compliance with all relevant local, state, and federal legislation

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or any related field
• At least 5 years of experience in HR, with preferably 2 years in a managerial or supervisory role
• In-depth knowledge of HR practices, administration, and state and federal HR laws
• Knowledge of ATS solutions, such as Taleo or Jobvite, and experience with learning management systems, like Schoology
• Experience using HRIS, such as intelliHR or Sapling
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
• Expertise in conflict management and great relationship-building skills
• Ability to take initiative and maintain confidentiality
• Fluent in one or more foreign languages (preferably Spanish)
