How To Delete a Job Posting on Indeed—A Step-by-Step Guide
Indeed gives you the option to post job listings for free and doesn’t remove them after a certain period. Still, if you’ve hired someone for the position, don’t like the quality of applications you’re receiving, or put the hiring process on hold, it’s time to take the ad down.
Once logged in, visit the Jobs section or press the Back to Hiring button on your homepage (note that the button is available only if you have already added job postings)
Selecting Closed as a job opening’s status will remove your job from search results and remove it from the job dashboard. If it is a sponsored post, it won’t accrue additional charges.Â
You also have the option to choose Paused as a status. If you do this, your ad will be invisible to jobseekers, but it will remain on your job dashboard. You should pause your job ad if you’ve decided to put the vacancy on hold for the time being or if you’re receiving many applications and want to review them without fresh ones flying in. Close the job posting only when you hire someone or you no longer need a person for that position.
How To See a Closed Job Posting on Indeed
Once you remove a job posting from Indeed, it will become invisible to jobseekers and won’t show up in your dashboard, but it’s not deleted permanently. Indeed keeps it in its archives so you can access it later on and use it for future reference.
To see closed job postings, switch to the Closed Jobs tab within the job dashboard.
There, you can see the details of the job posting and change its status to Paused or Open. You can’t edit the job once it’s closed—to do so, you need to change its status.
How To Edit a Job Posting on Indeed
If the reason you’re deleting your post is that you don’t like the look of it (i.e., you want to change some details) or to adjust the budget, you don’t have to delete the post and complete the whole process of placing a job ad from the start. You can edit any job posting on Indeed, regardless of its status. To do so, you need to be signed in and:
You can set your own daily budget ranging from $5–$499.Â
How Long Does It Take for My Job To Be Visible on Indeed?
Indeed has a review process before they start adding new job postings to the platform’s search results. The review process usually lasts from four to 24 hours.
