If you want better visibility for the post, you can opt for LinkedIn paid promotion services. Promoted listings appear at the top of relevant search results and also receive exposure via email and text alerts to qualified candidates. Paid job posts on the platform are billed on a pay-per-click basis, and the rate varies depending on industry and location factors.Â
How To Share a Job Posting on the Company Page on LinkedIn
You have the option to share a job on LinkedIn via a status post—whether through a company page or your personal account. You can either share an existing job or create a new one.
Sharing an Existing Job as a LinkedIn Status Update
If you have already created the job post on LinkedIn, all you need to do is share it with your followers or connections—here are the instructions to do so:
Navigate to the Manage job posts dashboard
Access the ellipses button on the job post you want to share
Click on Share in a post
You can add suitable hashtags to your post for search optimization. The viewership is set to Anyone by default, i.e., people on and off LinkedIn can see your post. Other viewership options include Connections/Followers only and Anyone + Twitter.
If you want to share a LinkedIn job post created by someone else, navigate to the particular post and use the forward arrow button to access options for sharing. You can share via a status post or direct message or even cross-post it on social media or other platforms.
LinkedIn also lets you share links to third-party job posts via your profile. You need to add the URL of the source post to your status, and it will automatically generate a preview of the link. Keep in mind that status posts with job links are not extensive ads—viewers still need to click through to see the details of the vacancy.
Creating a New Job via a LinkedIn Status Update
You can also create a new job using the Share That You’re #Hiring feature on LinkedIn. The option is only available to:
Super admins of a company page
Select employees of the hiring organization (you may have to verify your work email before or during posting)
Here’s what you need to do:
Go to your LinkedIn feed and click on Start a post
Select the Share that you’re hiring button (the briefcase icon at the bottom of the post window
Add the following details to the job post:
Job title
Company
Workplace type
Employee location
Job type
Description
Post the job to your followers/connections—in certain cases, LinkedIn admins may review your post before it is made live
Posting a job using a status update adds the purple #HIRING frame to your profile image to make you more attractive to jobseekers. If you’re using the free posting feature, you cannot have more than one self-created job listing active on your page/profile at a time.
How To Share a Job Post With Multiple LinkedIn Groups
Sharing job posts with LinkedIn Groups is a quick way to garner focused attention within particular expertise, interest, or industry. LinkedIn currently doesn’t offer any tool to post on multiple groups at once, but you can always streamline a list of target groups for your vacancy and share your job post link on each one.
Posting a job link on a LinkedIn Group is similar to how you post a status on your homepage. You need to:
Navigate to the homepage of the applicable group (make sure you’re a member of the group beforehand)
Select the Start a post in this group button
Add the link to the job listing
Type suitable content for the post—add hashtags like #hiring and #jobposting to attract jobseekers
Hit Post
Keep in mind that LinkedIn Groups are give-and-take platforms. It’s good practice to engage with the group members and share valuable resources regularly. Low-contributing members who only show up to post job ads are often tagged as spammers and expelled from the group.
What To Say When Sharing a Job Posting on LinkedIn
Jobseekers have to sift through an ocean of content on LinkedIn—whether it’s job ads or written status updates. Your job post can get lost in their feed pretty quickly unless you’re mindful regarding the phrasing. Merely pasting the link of a listing on your status post doesn’t get many impressions these days.
Here’s how to write a good job posting on LinkedIn:
Be upfront about your intention—It’s best to be direct about the reason you’re posting. Avoid gimmicky, fluffy intros like, “Want to work with the best?” or “You’re the rockstar we need.” Start with mentioning the role you’re hiring for and the niche or sub-niche of skills you need
Use a professional and approachable tone—Using a casual tone takes the weight out of your job post, and skilled professionals may outright ignore it. Phrase the content in a sincere and objective mannerÂ
Keep it short—If you’re adding a link to a job, skip over-explaining the role in the status text. LinkedIn truncates posts after 140 characters (by adding a See more button for the rest), so ensure you’re sharing valuable info within that limit
Add relevant hashtags—Research roles similar to your vacancy on the site’s job board. Take note of common hashtags attached to each post and add them to your statusÂ
