Founded back in 1955, The Predictive Index initially offered a behavioral survey checklist and training workshop based on tests for positions within the U.S. Army Air Corps. The assessment has since undergone several revisions, most recently in 2017. Nowadays, The Predictive Index offers 2 types of assessments: 

1. Behavioral Assessment—measures natural behavioral drives and needs
2. Cognitive Assessment—measures general mental ability and capacity for critical thinking

In contrast to Prevue HR, the platform notably lacks technical skills testing and assessment customization options. Assessments are intentionally kept under 20 minutes to avoid overburdening candidates, but some users reported difficulties navigating the website. However, The Predictive Index received a respectable overall 9.2 rating for ease of use on G2.

Prevue HR offers more complete testing than Vervoe since it includes both personality and cognitive tests in addition to hard skills assessments. Both tools let you customize assessments, but Vervoe provides more customization options. Unlike Vervoe, Prevue HR has a short free trial and undisclosed pricing. Wonderlic Select was created under the name of WonScore in 2015. It was later rebranded to better align with its parent company, Wonderlic. The latter has been a leader in pre-employment testing since its inception in Illinois in 1937.

Wonderlic Select offers 3 types of assessments: 

1. Cognitive ability test—the single-best general predictor of job performance
2. Motivational assessment—tells you what types of work a candidate prefers to do
3. Personality test—tells you how a candidate will likely behave on the job

The platform has an intuitive interface, with reports designed to be shared with candidates. It has high ratings for ease of use on G2 and Capterra (9.3 and 4.6, respectively).

However, no technical skills tests or customization options are available, and pricing is not publicly displayed on the website. The software integrates with 4 ATS platforms, including JazzHR and AcquireTM. 

Prevue HR is slightly more difficult to navigate than Wonderlic Select, according to users. We can’t compare their costs because neither discloses prices, but their integration capabilities are approximately at the same level. However, Prevue HR has the edge on assessment variety because it offers skills testing and customization options. 

4) AssessFirst

AssessFirst provides AI-powered tools that generate customized benchmarks for employers looking to recruit candidates that will seamlessly integrate with their current workforce. The AI technology gathers insights about the qualities of existing employees to create an optimal candidate profile. While Prevue HR offers a comparable feature, it is not AI-powered.

The platform offers cognitive, motivational, and personality tests, each taking just under 10 minutes, and boasts a 97% candidate satisfaction rate with gamified assessments, personalized insights, and social media integration. 36% of candidates choose to share their reports on social media, according to the company. Nevertheless, complaints about long assessments have been noted, and the ease of use rating on G2 is only 8.9. 

Pricing starts at £290 per month, and customization is only available with a Premium plan costing £640 per month. There are over 35 integrations with other HR tools, some of which are Skeeled, Beehire, and Workable.

AssessFirst doesn’t offer technical skills tests but provides customization capabilities similar to Prevue HR. They have also faced similar user complaints. However, unlike Prevue HR, AssessFirst has transparent pricing and numerous integrations.
