Are You Struggling To Attract the Right Type of Content Strategist?
A key factor in the success of your recruitment process is how specific your job description is. Writing the best possible job description is a matter of tailoring it to your organization’s needs. Many modern web-based positions—such as Content Strategist—can be too vague on their own. Content strategy overlaps with a number of standard business departments, and so, if you don’t hone in on your specific need, you won’t be able to ask for the right candidate.
Make sure to carefully evaluate what you expect the eventual hire to do in this job. Whether it’s more about marketing processes or online settings will help you laser-focus your job ad.
Consider the way these three types of Content Strategist differ:
- Content Marketing Strategist—Responsible for how content is used, a content specialist that’s concerned primarily with marketing isn’t going to need as much writing or editorial experience. Someone in this position will need to understand how to convert leads to prospects via best marketing practices
- Digital Content Strategist—Overseeing the use of content in online settings, a Digital Content Strategist will need extensive experience with new media. They will require hands-on skills with websites, social media, YouTube, and similar platforms in order to strategize your digital content effectively
- Senior Content Strategist—For larger organizations, it can help to develop a hierarchy to the content strategy team. Senior Content Strategists will be responsible for overseeing the work of Junior and Intern Content Strategists
