How to Tailor Your Job Ad to the Type of Policy Writer You’re Looking For
Regardless of what position you’re hiring for, it is crucial to be super-specific when listing the responsibilities and requirements. The skills, qualifications, and desired expertise are your “first line of defense” against unqualified candidates. When you tailor the job ad to include the specific task your new hire will be performing in your organization, you’re letting the candidates know exactly what they’re in for. This will deter candidates that lack core competencies from applying and save you a ton of time you’d otherwise have to spend reviewing sub-par applications.
With a well-written job description, you’ll be able to:
- Attract candidates who will be the ideal fit for your company
- Save time when it comes to reviewing resumes
- Help any interested candidates in understanding what their job entails
Since not all Policy Writing roles carry the same responsibilities or require same skills, you need to be clear on what kind of Policy Writer you’re looking for:
- Privacy Policy Writer—Responsible for writing policies that explain the users which personal information is gathered by a website and how it is used
- HR Policy Writer—Creates new policies for employers or revises existing ones that are outdated. They may also create guidelines for workplace issues, such as sexual harassment
