Content Editor Job Description Template
We are seeking a professional Content Editor to edit articles, blog posts, web pages, landing pages, and other content for spelling, grammar, tone, punctuation, style, and factual correctness. Your job is to ensure that all content follows our company’s guidelines in terms of quality and that writers meet all their deadlines.
On top of managing a team of writers and editing and proofreading their work, your responsibilities may also include creating content briefs, providing constructive feedback and suggestions for improvement, and mentoring new writers. You will report to the Executive Content Editor and participate in meetings to develop new writing guidelines or brainstorm content ideas when needed.
An ideal candidate will have a strong command of English and attention to detail. You must also be able to organize tasks based on priority.
Responsibilities
- Edit content for grammar, spelling, punctuation, readability, style, and factual correctness
- Manage a team of writers to ensure everyone meets deadlines
- Give feedback and suggestions for improvement
- Participate in creating a content calendar
- Review old content for outdated information and rewrite and update it as necessary
- Train new writers
- Write article briefs or templates when required
Requirements
- [x] years of experience as an Editor, Content Writer, or in a similar role
- Portfolio with at least 5 examples of previous work
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills
- Good communication skills
- Working knowledge of basic SEO practices
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, or Marketing is preferred
