Associate Editor Job Description Template
If you have an impeccable knowledge of English grammar, a keen interest in polishing written content, great management skills, and good design judgment, we would love to bring you on as an Associate Editor.
You will be tasked with ensuring that our written content adheres to the established standards and procedures. You will oversee the digital content production (topic selection, writing, and editing), as well as manage the schedules and coordinate the end-to-end workflow of our writing team while reporting to the Senior Editor.
The ideal candidate must have at least one year of experience working in the role of an editor and a degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or another related field.
- Brainstorming with the Senior Editor to develop content frameworks and ideas and handle publication-related tasks
- Assigning workload to writers, as well as supervising and giving them feedback during the writing process
- Editing all written content (articles, blogs, emails, newsletters, etc.) for grammar, spelling, and stylistic errors and ensuring factual accuracy
- Setting writers’ deadlines and managing the publishing schedule
- Collaborating with the design team to ensure the written content is in sync with web page layout and design
- Staying up to date on new trends in our industry to discover new writing angles and opportunities to update old content
- Posting our content pieces on social media and other digital channels
- Gathering performance data and social media feedback to optimize content campaigns and discover new coverage areas
- Strong knowledge of our niche
- Impeccable English grammar, spelling, and punctuation
- At least one year of experience in an editorial role
- Established fact-checking and research skills
- Experience managing and motivating a remote team
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to organize and manage large projects
- Ability to meet deadlines and hit all our KPIs
- Experience with WordPress and other CMS tools
- Knowledge of web design is a plus
- A degree in English, Communications, Creative Writing, or other related fields
