Editor Job Description Template
We are looking for an experienced Editor to plan and revise the content for our and clients’ websites. You will work with writers, designers, and senior content team members to achieve maximum content quality.
Your main responsibilities will include reviewing drafts to cut unnecessary words, check style consistency, replace vague phrases with appropriate wording, correct punctuation, spelling, and grammar errors, and check content for accuracy.
To excel in this role, you need strong communication and organizational skills, as well as an eye for detail and previous editing experience. Having a bachelor’s degree in English or Journalism is a must.
Responsibilities
- Correcting grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors
- Providing feedback to writers
- Ensuring consistency in style and tone of voice
- Fact-checking to ensure all of the written content is 100% accurate before being published
- Making sure that the content aligns with brand messaging
- Collaborating with coworkers to come up with new, target-audience-oriented content ideas
- Rewriting published content if needed
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in English or Journalism
- 3 years of experience in a similar role
- Great communication skills
- Extensive experience in writing, editing, and proofreading
- High computer literacy
- Basic knowledge of SEO
