Editorial Specialist Job Description Template
We are seeking a driven and dedicated Editorial Specialist who is ready to join our company and work closely with our content team. You will be expected to write, proofread, and edit content, as well as transform existing articles/content into formats suitable for social media. Your main responsibility will be editing and creating engaging content for different digital channels, but also supervising and coordinating work between other writers and editors.
Responsibilities
- Preparing, rewriting, and editing content to improve readability (or supervising others who do this work)
- Proofreading various types of communication materials for both internal and external audiences
- Reviewing content to ensure it’s error-free and in compliance with all editorial guidelines
- Adapting already written pieces to shorter formats (for social media) while ensuring the changes don’t affect brand messaging
- Creating content for newsletters, paid social posts, and press kits
- Providing editorial support to writers and editors
- Staying up-to-date on emerging trends in our industry to identify new content opportunities for our company
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Marketing, or another related field
- [XY] years of experience as a Content Writer or Editor
- Superior writing and editing skills and thorough knowledge of different styles (Associated Press Stylebook and Chicago Manual of Style) and grammar rules
- Excellent organization skills and attention to detail
- Ability to perform in-depth research and keep track of new trends while finding new opportunities to promote our company’s products/services via written content
- Project management experience or experience in a managerial role will be considered a plus
- Knowledge of Google Analytics and CMS platforms, such as WordPress, HubSpot, Wix, or Drupal
