The main difference between Interviewer.AI and other ATS solutions is its AI-powered framework—Explainable AI.

When you distribute a job ad (the platform doesn’t automate this process), you should require applicants to post asynchronous video interviews on a set of prescreening questions (besides the usual resumes, cover letters, portfolios, and other documents you need). In other words, applicants have to upload a video instead of typing a response.

The platform uses the Explainable AI framework to analyze videos for you. The framework analyzes dozens of observable features to assess a candidate’s “soft skills” through crucial success factors established by industry and psychology heuristics.

The company claims the framework has an 85%–90% accuracy. Once the software completes assessments, they grade each candidate and order applicants according to the scores. You can then shortlist the highest-scoring candidates and invite them for an interview. This way, you save time interviewing each applicant and devote your time only to the best ones.

Note that the software can analyze interviews in the following languages only: English, Spanish, Polish, Chinese (Mandarin), and Bahasa.

Downsides to Interviewer.AI

The platform relies heavily on AI, which can have its shortcomings. For example, if what the company refers to as “dataset accuracy” is below 70% (which happens rarely, but it still does), the model is considered unreliable, and you’re back to ground zero. 

The software has issues with transcription, especially for non-native English speakers, which affects the accuracy of the candidate scoring.

You also can’t choose what key success factors are more important to you for a particular position (e.g., if you want to prioritize sociability over professionalism), and the scoring mechanism is always the same.

Interviewer.AI lacks reporting features and other methods of assessing candidates, such as written samples and prescreening questionnaires. If you’re looking to fill a position where verbal communication is not crucial, you may miss out on the best candidate.

Another issue that users have reported is the UI, which could be more user-friendly, and the onboarding period as it takes time to get used to the platform.
