As one of the most popular digital job boards in Belgium, VDAB is home to over 300,000 active job ads. More than 35,000 of those are intended for English-speaking professionals, making it a valuable resource for international employers and jobseekers.
Unlike most job boards, VDAB is an extension of a regional public employment office in The Netherlands—specifically focusing on raising employment in the region of Flanders. If you’re looking for Dutch professionals in Belgium, advertising on VDAB is the way to go.
VDAB has a resume database, and unlike most other job boards, you can access it with a free employer’s account (My VDAB). The platform doesn’t disclose the size of the database publicly, but the free account gives you the option of receiving candidate suggestions via email.
There’s no native integration with ATS platforms, but the two paid plans, Business and BusinessPlus, come with a company page that you can use for employer branding on VDAB, along with a company video that illustrates your appeal to qualified candidates.
The two paid tiers also come with candidate matching features—you get a “value fit” for individual candidates that shows whether they’ll probably fit your requirements for a vacancy.
Bear in mind that the premium tiers—Business and BusinessPlus—are billed annually, at €3,600 and €4,640, respectively. So, VDAB will only be cost-effective if you intend to hire in Belgium in the long run.
VDAB is also less helpful if you want to hire outside of Flanders, and the lack of ATS integration options isn’t ideal. However, the region has a thriving labor market with plenty of educated professionals, so that limitation isn’t necessarily a problem.
• Free option
• CV database available for free
• Company pages for employer branding
• Paid subscriptions are billed annually
• Not that useful outside the Flanders region
References.be (Références) is another famous Belgian job board that receives over 400,000 unique visitors per month, making it one of the greatest resources for employers who want to hire in Belgium. Unlike our previous choice, which focused on Dutch-speaking Belgian professionals, Références focuses more on French-speaking ones. The job board is owned and managed by Le Soir, one of the oldest daily newspapers in Belgium.
Références maintains a detailed CV database with information on over 200,000 candidates. Any job ads you post will be distributed to relevant candidates from that database via email. You can also have them redistributed to specialist job boards, major social media sites, and the websites of local media outlets, like Le Soir, LaMeuse.be, and Sudinfo.be.
The CV database has a highly detailed tag-based search function, and you can ask the Références staff for candidate recommendations—making it easy to find the perfect fit for any vacancy. However, the database is only available to employers who post the most expensive Target Power Jobs.
Références lets you choose between 3 price tiers:
Premium Job—€599 for a job ad that lasts 6 weeks. It’s also distributed to candidates via email and reposted on specialist job boards, Twitter, Facebook, Jooble, and Trovit
Target Premium Job—€799 for an 8-week job ad. It has all of the features above, plus PPC placement and distribution on LinkedIn
Target Power Job—€899 for a 10-week job post, containing all of the features above and access to the website’s candidate CV library
The only downsides are that the website is only available in French, and it only has around 160 active job ads in English—making it a less-than-ideal international job board. The fact that you have to pay for the priciest job ads to access the resume database means smaller-sized businesses with limited hiring budgets probably won’t access one of its best features.
• A large number of monthly visitors
• Reposting on other job platforms
• Great source of French professionals
• Only available in French
• Resume database only available with top-tier ads
One of the downsides of our previous picks was their language barrier—and that’s a problem you won’t have with Jobat. This is one of the best job boards for international employers because its UI supports most languages spoken in Belgium: Dutch, French, and English.
The website also receives over 85,000 daily visitors, easily making it one of the most active job boards in Belgium. Of the currently active job ads, around 100 are intended for English speakers.
As an employer, you can easily create a profile that quickly presents your logo and company description to potential applicants. The job board also maintains the Jobat Talent Network—a CV database with info on 330,000 applicants, which you can access with the platform’s second price tier. With the highest tier, you will receive candidate matching services from Jobat’s hiring experts.
You can choose between 3 types of job ads on Jobat:
Light Network Job—€999 for a 60-day ad. The ad is automatically distributed to candidates in Jobat’s network via email
Full Network Job—€1,375 for a 60-day ad. The ad is more visible on Jobat’s job board, and the platform will repost it on Facebook for you
Power Network Job—€2,475 for a 60-day ad. Besides all of the above, you also get advice from Jobat’s hiring experts
Unfortunately, all three tiers are paid, and there’s no free ad option. Jobat doesn’t support native integrations with applicant tracking systems either. Still, all ads stay on the website 60 days instead of the 30-day industry standard. As a result, you’re not paying as much per day as you would on most competing job boards.
• A large number of daily visitors
• Available in two official Belgian languages and English
• Ads stay on the website for two months regardless of price tier
• No free ads available
• No ATS integrations
BrusselsJobs is one of the most popular job boards in Belgium’s capital, with over 30,000 monthly visitors and almost 8,000 newsletter subscribers. While the platform caters to employers and jobseekers of all profiles, it’s particularly popular among the IT community—making it one of the most often-used IT job boards in Belgium.
Besides IT candidates, BrusselsJobs also helps employers find qualified applicants for finance, admin, and business positions. Over 90% of the professionals who find work on the platform are English speakers, which is why it’s particularly attractive to international employers seeking local talent. The website is owned by EuroBrussels.com, another job board that focuses on recruiting legal and political professionals.
Besides hosting your job ads, BrusselsJobs lets you create pre-selection questions on their website and ensure you only receive applications from qualified candidates. The two paid job tiers (costing €640 and €960, respectively) are also included in the job board’s weekly newsletter for candidates. There’s also a free ad tier with no additional features and limited visibility.
Unfortunately, BrusselsJobs doesn’t support integration with third-party ATS, but the job board has its own browser-based ATS. It’s rudimentary compared to most third-party ATS, containing only a handful of pre-screening questions and a candidate status page. However, it comes free with any paid ad on BrusselsJobs.
• A large number of English-speaking professionals
• UI in English language
• Popular among IT experts but still a generalist site
• Option of creating pre-screening questions
• Free ads
• No integration with third-party applicant tracking systems
EURACTIV is a news site dedicated to European politics and economics, but it also maintains a vibrant job board with hundreds of thousands of Belgian and European job candidates and employers. Thanks to the many project managers, event organizers, and communication officers who find work through the platform, it’s also one of the best job boards for nonprofits in Europe.
It’s still a generalist job board, so you can use it to hire pretty much any professional or remote worker. While it’s not specifically a Belgian job board, 25% of its user base comes from Belgium—so it’s still one of the most popular job sites in the country. All of the ads on EURACTIV are in English, and the job board was clearly designed to connect English-speaking professionals with international employers.
If you opt for one of EURACTIV’s paid tiers, the job board will also reshare your ad on LinkedIn, Twitter, and Facebook. You’ll also gain more visibility compared to the free ads because they’ll be placed in the website’s separate “Featured” section. However, there are no candidate-matching features or native integrations with ATS platforms. The free ads are also too short-lived, considering they stay live for only seven days.
As an employer, you can choose between three tiers of ads:
Basic—free ads that last up to a week. You can only post a maximum of 2,000 characters and modify the ad once after the initial upload
Standard—€650 for ads that last up to 30 days. They’re also more visible in a separate Featured Jobs box and automatically shared on EURACTIV’s social media (LinkedIn, Twitter, and Facebook)
Premium—€870 for ads that last up to 45 days. Along with all of the above, you get visibility in the “Supporters” section and the “Jobs of the Week” section and access to viewership statistics for the job ad
• Free ad option
• Excellent job board for managers and other administrative staff
• Access to thousands of candidates from other EU countries
• English UI
• Short duration of free ads
• No ATS and candidate matching features
